Poem and Plant Hunters
Isn’t it lovely when you can have a chat with a group of artists and talk about the creative process?
Well back in March I got to do exactly that with The Poem and Plant Hunters. A very talented group of artists expertly facilitated by Brigid Collins. To be fair, initially I was doing most of the talking but we discussed where ideas come from, what influences our work and how we go about recording and pulling our ideas together into a finished article.
I am quite familiar with responding, as a poet, to a piece of visual art but completely bowled over to have the tables turned and find artwork created in response to a piece I had written. An astonishing and very humbling experience. Since then, I am increasingly finding art and poetry difficult to separate. I am beginning to recognize a creative loop.
